A Monobank budget app that does the logging for you

Typing in every card payment by hand gets old by week two. YABA connects to Monobank, and your payments land in the family budget seconds after you pay, already with a category. All that's left to type is cash.

How the sync works

  1. A read-only token. You get a personal token at api.monobank.ua and paste it into YABA (Settings → Banks). That token can only read your statement: it can't move money or change anything at the bank.
  2. Pick your cards. YABA lists your Monobank accounts, and you pick which ones to track and which YABA accounts they link to.
  3. History. YABA loads 1-3 months of history or everything since a date, up to 5 years back, newest first. Each month takes about a minute.
  4. New payments live. From then on Monobank tells YABA about every operation, and it shows up in the whole family's feed within seconds.

How the category is picked

For each new payment YABA checks, in order: how you've filed this payee before (your history), then the shop's category code (MCC), and if that doesn't help, it asks an AI that sees only the name, never the amount. Changed a category by hand? YABA remembers next time.

Transfers and cash aren't spending

  • Between your own cards. When both cards are connected, a move from one to the other becomes a transfer between accounts, with no extra spending or income.
  • Cash withdrawals. Become a transfer to your Cash account.
  • Transfers to people. Go to their own category, which doesn't skew your spending pace.
  • Holds. When the final amount settles, the entry is updated rather than duplicated.

If you typed an expense by hand and the same one arrives from the bank, YABA merges them into one entry.

Privacy

  • The token is stored encrypted (AES-256), with read-only access.
  • Each family's data lives in its own database in the EU and is never sold.
  • Disconnect the bank any time in Settings.

For two

Each partner can connect their own Monobank. An account has an owner or is joint, and bank entries show whose they are. You both see one live feed.

Other banks

Only Monobank syncs automatically for now. Other Ukrainian banks will follow once Ukraine's open banking opens to apps. Until then, payments from other cards take ten seconds in quick add.

Is it safe to share the token?

A Monobank token only allows reading your statement. We store it encrypted and can only read operations.

How fast do payments show up?

Usually seconds after you pay: Monobank sends each operation to YABA.

Can I connect several cards?

Yes. You pick which Monobank accounts to track, and each partner can connect their own bank.

What about moves between my own cards?

They become transfers between accounts and count as neither spending nor income.

What about PrivatBank and others?

Monobank only for now. Other banks will come with open banking.
